Job Description
Our client, a highly respected and locally owned engineering company in Austin, is seeking to add a talented Mechanical Engineer PE / Project Manager with HVAC and/or plumbing design experience to its growing team. This is a full-time, direct-hire position offering generous compensation, benefits, bonus/401K, and PTO programs in a great location.
Responsibilities:
- Design & Documentation:
- Calculate, design, and generate AutoCAD and/or Revit files and construction documents to support MEP engineering needs for various building types (commercial offices, K-12 schools, municipal buildings, healthcare facilities, multifamily, etc.), with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
- Project Management:
- Oversee projects from inception to completion, establish schedules, assign resources, monitor performance, and ensure projects are on time and within budget.
- Maintain and organize all mechanical engineering-related documents and schedules, along with associated general project documents.
- Field Work & Review:
- Review mechanical design submittals and address any issues, conflicts, or questions that arise in the field.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase.
- Client Interaction:
- Generate and present project status updates to internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Develop new business opportunities by building and maintaining relationships with existing and new clients.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, as well as an MS degree, is a plus.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in HVAC or plumbing design and project management.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is required.
- Familiarity with HVAC modeling programs such as TRACE700, CHVAC7.0, and/or AIRMaster is highly desirable.
- Strong HVAC/plumbing design and project management experience for commercial, multifamily, educational, healthcare, and institutional buildings.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including subcontractors and project owners.
- Professional Attributes:
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
